There’s No Such Thing as a Boring Product

What a blender teaches us about unforgettable marketing.

Together with AudioEye

I used to think accessibility was just “nice to have.”

Until I found out my brand-new website was invisible to millions of people — including folks like my cousin, who grew up partially deaf and legally blind.

That’s why I partnered with AudioEye to create a simple guide for marketers:

How accessibility drives real growth, protects your brand, and makes a bigger impact.

This week I was coaching a marketing leader who said something I’ve heard many times.

She’s a demand gen director at a company that’s been — as her CEO calls it — "shockingly behind" on pipeline targets. This has been going on for the past three quarters.

She’s creating more content than ever — but nothing’s working. No spike in attention. No lift in leads. Just frustration and self-doubt.

When I asked why she thought she was struggling to break through, she admitted:

“Our product is boring. We don’t have cool new AI like everyone else. And the problem we solve isn’t sexy.”

Whenever I hear “boring product,” I think of Blendtec.

A few years ago, they were just another blender company.

Nothing special. No buzz. No sales.

Instead of trying to convince people they had the “best blender,” they showed it — by blending random stuff on YouTube.

They created Will It Blend? — a video series where they blended anything you can think of.

New iPad? Blend it.
Dozen glowsticks? Blend it.
Handful of marbles? Blend it.

The channel exploded with subscribers, comments, and free word-of-mouth buzz.

I bet sales went through the roof too.

It reminds me of something my mom used to say:

“There’s no such thing as boring — only boring people.”

She was right.

And the same is true in marketing.

There’s no such thing as a boring product.

Only boring marketing.

So next time you feel like there’s “no angle” or “nobody cares” — ask yourself…

Can you beat a blender?

I bet you can.

PS: I know marketing yourself is tricky too. Especially when putting yourself out there on LinkedIn.

If you’re ready to stop feeling stuck — and finally start standing out — I’m opening up my first LinkedIn cohort training this Monday.

It’s designed to help you grow your audience, build your brand, and attract real buyers — without feeling cringey, salesy, or fake.

Inside, I’ll show you how to:

  • Grow your audience of ideal followers
  • Write un-ignorable LinkedIn posts consistently (with my proven templates)
  • Turn your profile into a "conversion machine" that sparks real opportunities — from speaking gigs to new clients

It’s 4 weeks of hands-on coaching with me and a small group of motivated professionals.

There's only 8 spots left.

If you’re ready to stop winging it — and start winning attention on LinkedIn — this is your shot.
